Police probe reports of woman raped in Edinburgh
Detectives have launched an investigation after reports a woman was raped in Edinburgh.
Officers were called to the Abbeyhill area of the city at about 04:30 on Sunday following reports of a serious sexual assault.
Investigators sealed off Abbey Street after the alarm was raised to allow investigations to be carried out at the scene.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said inquiries were ongoing.
UPDATE: On 26 January a Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Extensive inquiries have confirmed this incident did not take place as reported."
