Bomb squad dispose of explosive device found in Edinburgh canal
A bomb squad has disposed of an explosive device found in an Edinburgh canal.
Police officers received reports at about 10:05 that the device had been found in the Union Canal.
A cordon was placed around the area and Harrison Road was closed between Polwarth Terrace and West Bryson Road.
The item was taken to Cramond Beach for safe detonation by explosive ordnance disposal officers. The area was also cordoned off.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said that officers had now stood down from both locations and Harrison Road was now open.
