Dungannon: Man reportedly attacked by group of 30 men
A man has suffered serious head injuries after he was reportedly attacked by a group of up to 30 men in Dungannon, police have said.
Officers added that a witness saw a group armed with knives at Market Square and Irish Street in the County Tyrone town at about 03:20 BST on Sunday.
A man was found unconscious in nearby Sloan Street.
Witnesses at the scene told police the group had fled the area on foot.
The injured man was taken by ambulance to hospital where he remains receiving treatment.
SDLP councillor Karol McQuade said reports of the incident were "deeply disturbing".
"My thoughts go out to the man who has been left in hospital with serious head injuries following an attack and I hope he makes a full and quick recovery," he continued.
Police have appealed for anyone with mobile phone or dashcam footage of the incident to contact them on the non-emergency number 101.
