A man has appeared in court charged with murdering Alyson Nelson in Whitehead, County Antrim.
William Finlay, from Old Forde Gardens in Whitehead, stood briefly in handcuffs in the dock at Belfast Magistrates' Court.
The 66-year-old said he understood the murder charge - aggravated by domestic abuse - when it was put to him.
Ms Nelson, 64, was pronounced dead in a house in Victoria Avenue after police received reports of a stabbing.
A defence lawyer said no application for bail would be made at this stage.
Mr Finlay was remanded in custody and will appear again by video link on 18 May.
The domestic abuse aggravation is part of new legislation which was introduced in February.
