Two siblings have been recognised by Surrey Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) after saving their family from a blaze.

George, 12, and Olivia, 9, were welcomed to Camberley fire station after they saved their baby brother and grandmother from a house fire in Surrey Heath in December 2022.

Dan Quin, chief fire officer for SFRS said they "no doubt saved" the family.

Mother of the siblings, Vicky, said they were excited to visit the station after the "traumatic incident".

When a tumble dryer caught fire at their father's house on 16 December 2022, George and Olivia shut the kitchen door to stop the spread of the blaze.

The pair proceeded to save their grandmother, sleeping baby brother and then call emergency services.

Mr Quin praised the siblings and said their "brave and considered approach" was "incredible" and prevented further damage to their home.

'Couldn't be prouder'

To thank the siblings for their actions, SFRS welcomed them to Camberley fire station for a tour and to learn about how firefighters respond in emergencies.

Mr Quin said he and all of the service were "delighted" to meet the family.

The highlight of George and Olivia's tour was getting into a fire engine and going down the fire station's pole, Vicky said.

She added that she "couldn't be prouder" of her children and hoped that their experience will alert others to potential fire risks at home.
