Suffolk County Council considers 拢42m cuts plan
Plans to cut 拢42m from Suffolk County Council's budget, with the loss of 1,400 posts, are going before councillors.
The proposals would see school crossing patrols cut, the closure of seven recycling centres and subsidies to some rural bus services cut.
The 2011/2012 budget will see the Conservative-controlled authority spending 拢1.1bn on local services.
The cuts are being made after the government reduced funding to councils.
And the budget proposes no increase in the county's contribution to council tax in 2011/2012.
Council officers hope to minimise the number of redundancies.
The loss of 1,400 posts over two years represents a 14% drop in staff numbers.
