Thatched roof destroyed in Knighton cottage blaze

The thatched roof of a Grade II listed cottage was "100% destroyed" in a fire.

Sixty firefighters were sent to the property in Knighton near Faringdon, Oxfordshire, shortly after 19:20 BST on Saturday.

Incident commander Mike Adcock praised the "fantastic efforts" of crews who stopped flames spreading to neighbouring properties.

The cause of the blaze is unknown and no injuries were reported.

Firefighters are expected to remain at the site until Monday.
