New photographs have revealed how a 拢5.5m football stadium is taking shape ahead of its forthcoming opening in December.

FC United, which is owned and run by its members, is building the new ground and community facility in Moston.

Called Broadhurst Park, club staff say plans for the stadium have prompted their highest ever season ticket sales.

FC United was formed in 2005 by Manchester United fans in protest at US businessman Malcolm Glazer's takeover.

Michael Holdsworth, community administrator at the club, which plays in the Northern Premier League Premier Division, said the stadium was creating a "buzz".

"It's raising the club's profile quite a lot," he said.

"It will be amazing to finally have our own ground. Not just for the first team, but somewhere where the reserves can play, and the women's team can play.

"There's a lot of interest in the community and some people are buying season tickets for the first time."

The 4,440 capacity stadium is being part funded by FC United members and supporters via a community share issue, alongside donations and grants.

Matches are currently held at Gigg Lane, which the club shares with Bury FC.
