Chelmsford: Jail for man who tried to kill his wife

A man who attempted to murder his wife in their home has been jailed.
Besim Nezha of Legg Street, Chelmsford, was jailed for 18 years for the attempted murder of his wife.
The 52-year-old had admitted the charge in relation to the incident which took place in June 2023.
Det Ch Insp Louise Metcalfe, from Essex Police, praised the victim who was "incredibly lucky" to survive the attack.
Officers were called to the address on 10 June, where they found the woman, who had been seriously injured by two knives and a pair of scissors.
During the attack she had tried to escape and was dragged back into the home where the assault continued.
Her son had tried to restrain Nezha and take the weapon from him.
Nezha is required to serve a minimum of 13 and a half years and the rest on licence.
