Helicopter search after man stabbed in Weymouth
A police helicopter search is being carried out after a man was stabbed in Weymouth.
Dorset Police said a man, in his 30s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries following an assault in Canberra Road shortly before 21:00 BST on Saturday. A woman, in her 30s, suffered a hand injury.
Police said "extensive searches", with helicopter support, were being carried out to locate the offender.
Officers have appealed for information.
The man's injuries were described as serious but not life-threatening.
Det Sgt Emma Swann said: "An investigation is under way and extensive searches of the area have been carried out to locate the offender, with support from the NPAS [National Police Air Service] helicopter.
"I am appealing to anyone who saw what happened, or has information about the suspect, to please come forward."
