Plans for a new supermarket, drive-thru coffee shop, office units and community building have been submitted on the edge of a Derbyshire village.

Trenport Investment want to use agricultural land north of the Derby Road and A5132 roundabout junction in Hilton for the development.

If approved, it will become the village's second large supermarket.

South Derbyshire District Council is expected to make a decision in the next few months.

The new supermarket would have 125 parking spaces, while the eight office units would have 47 and the drive-through coffee shop would have 13.

Plans for the site show the existing Derby Road roundabout being altered and changed to a four-way junction.

Aldi has also submitted a bid to council planners to move its Hilton Huntspill Road store to Derby Road close to current application, the Local Democracy Reporting Service, said.
