Lake District's Bond Museum and Cars of the Stars close

Two of the Lake District's well known tourist attractions have closed.

The Cars of the Stars museum and its sister attraction, the Bond Museum in Keswick shut over the weekend.

Notice of the closure was posted on the museums' website which said the announcement was made with "deep sadness" and the vehicles would be relocated.

The message thanked all who "supported the museums over the last 22 years in Keswick". Owner Peter Nelson has not been available for comment.

Mr Nelson sold some of his vehicles in February 2011, including Mr Bean's Mini and Harry Potter's Ford Anglia.

According to the museums' website the museum shop in Keswick will remain open, selling memorabilia.

It is not known how many jobs will be lost as a result of the museums closure.

Speaking on 91热爆 Radio Cumbria Linda Furniss, tourism officer for Keswick Tourism Association, said: "The closures came as a great surprise, we have lost two great attractions.

"I don't believe that we will lose visitors as a result of the museums closing. Keswick has many other museums and a wide range of alternative attractions."
