Rugby Lions club goes into liquidation
A Warwickshire rugby club has gone into liquidation after 139 years.
The Rugby Lions Club, based in Rugby, won promotion to National League Two South after going unbeaten all season.
The club, which had been due to start the new season in September, was bought by former player Michael Aland last year. He was unavailable for comment.
The Insolvency Service confirmed the Rugby Lions had gone into liquidation, which followed persistent reports of financial troubles at the club.
Head coach and former England international Neil Back left in June to become forwards coach at Edinburgh.
Club official Rick Beresford said there could be a campaign to try to keep the club running.
