Godiva Awakes bike team meets Coventry 'cyclopedia'
The 100 Godiva Awakes cyclists powered a prototype vehicle - named a cyclopedia - for the first time on Sunday 10 April.
The frame, which links together 15 tricycles, will carry a 30ft (10m) Lady Godiva from Coventry to London in 2012.
Powered by 50 cyclists a day, the journey to the London 2012 celebrations is expected to take seven days.
The rig will be led by David Batstone from Coventry's NP Aerospace, which is involved in the cyclopedia's design.
Mr Batstone said: "We still have many design details to resolve that are inherent in a structure of this size and weight. As a regular cyclist I know this will be physically challenging, but cyclopedia will present an amazing sight on the road to London."
The Lady Godiva puppet will be wearing clothes created by fashion designer Zandra Rhodes.
Godiva Awakes is part of a series of major public art commissions across the UK to celebrate the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad.
