Solar panels generate cash for Cornwall school

A west Cornwall school is hoping to generate about 拢1,600 a year thanks to new solar panels.

Alverton School in Penzance will be paid a fixed rate by its energy provider for electricity which comes from the renewable power source.

The clean energy cash back plan, known as "feed-in tariffs", started in April.

The school also hopes the panels will inspire children to learn more about sustainable energy.

At full power the solar panels will produce enough energy to power 50 computers.

The system is also expected to save about 拢400 a year in energy bills.
