New 拢335m hospital handed over to NHS trust

A new 拢335m hospital for Peterborough has been officially handed over to the NHS trust.

The Peterborough City Hospital has cost 拢335m to build and the first patients are due to move in next month.

Before the end of the year, services offered at the district hospital, Edith Cavell hospital and maternity unit will move to the one site.

The hospital will offer services for patients not previously available in Peterborough.

The main hospital, based at the site of the Edith Cavell Hospital in Bretton, will include an emergency care centre plus units for hi-tech diagnostics, women and children's clinics, cancer treatment, specialist rehabilitation, renal dialysis and multi-disciplinary training.

The mental health unit will include adult acute psychiatric wards plus units for psychiatric intensive care, older people's mental health and a specialist service for people with learning disabilities.
