Concerns about Bristol homes demolition
Some people living on a Bristol housing estate have expressed their concerns about the possible demolition of their homes.
One of the options in a regeneration project on the Inns Court Estate is to knock down nearly 1,000 homes and replace them with 2,000 houses.
The 拢1bn revamp for the Knowle West area would take place over 20 years.
The Liberal Democrat-led Bristol City Council said the consultation results had not been fully collated.
Chris Gould, who lives on the estate, said: "I'm not against regeneration, I'm not saying the area doesn't need some sort of organisation and improved facilities.
"But I think there are probably better ways to do it than the wholesale demolition of people's homes."
'Waste of money'
Jim White, a former Liberal Democrat councillor and a campaigner for residents, said: "My particular angle on this development is the waste that's involved in all this demolition.
"Environmental waste, waste of embodied energy in the buildings and the waste of money.
"It's a rather strange way of redeveloping or improving an area to knock it all down and replace it with a different kind of housing and often a different kind of resident."
A public consultation ended on 12 November.
The city council said in a statement: "The consultation results have not yet been fully collated and so there is not yet any formal response to the five options presented for consultation.
"The council has promised to listen carefully to the local community across Knowle West before determining a way forward."
He said an announcement on the issue was due shortly.
