Ashton Gate Sainsbury's plans to be decided
Plans to build a Sainsbury's supermarket at Ashton Gate are still being debated by Bristol city councillors.
Funds from the sale of the site would help Bristol City FC build its proposed new 拢92m stadium at nearby Ashton Vale.
But traders and some residents say they are concerned about the threat to local businesses and traffic.
Sainsbury's said the store would employ up to 800 staff in full and part-time jobs.
Councillors began listening to arguments for and against the plans at 1800 BST.
If approved, the 9,300 square metre supermarket, which would have 765 car parking spaces, would replace the current Sainsbury's in Winterstoke Road and become the company's largest store in the South West.
