Pangbourne and Wargrave fire stations at risk of closure

Plans to cut the number of fire stations in Berkshire are set to be put out to public consultation.

The county's fire authority said it needs to save 拢2.4m by 2020 to balance the books.

It met on Monday to confirm which options to save an initial 拢1.4m would go out to residents.

There are seven options, which include proposals to close Pangbourne and Wargrave stations.

The Royal Berkshire Fire Authority said the proposals were being made to make it a more "resilient organisation".

The consultation, which starts next week, will run until March.
