Winter snowfall in the UK: In pictures
The UK is experiencing a bout of severe winter weather with cold and dry spells expected during the rest of the week, following heavy snowfall over the weekend.
The weather has continued to cause severe disruption on the roads. On Monday, a 25-mile section of the A1 northbound in North Yorkshire was closed following a series of accidents between Allerton Park, near York, and the Catterick area. Pic: Paul Kirby
All over the country, snowmen, snow creatures and other snow-related sculptures have been making a temporary appearance. Harry Black in Wellingborough used blue car spray to give his snowman jeans.
Not all snowmen and women are cute; this figure in Ilford, created by Meral Saatil, looks particularly serious about the freezing weather.
Some flights may have been cancelled at Heathrow, but a group of enterprising adventurers in Cambridge didn't need to go far to make this surprisingly cosy-looking igloo big enough for 15 people.
But despite the fun, the Met Office has warned that black ice could still be a hazard for motorists around the country.
Although Tuesday's race meetings at Market Rasen and Sedgefield have been abandoned due to frozen tracks, people and animals - in this case Stephanie Wright's guinea pig - have not been deterred from taking to their sledges while they play in the snow.
Schools have been shut in several counties so instead children have been taking their artistic talents and using them elsewhere. Javed Saddique in Oldham created this Eskimo and penguin with the help of his children Aiman and Idrees.
Forecasters say there will be dense fog patches in place over the week, but it's unlikely Jacob Kirby's dog Tess's excitement will abate until the snowfall melts. If you have any images you wish to share, please send them to yourpics@bbc.co.uk. For terms and conditions visit bbc.co.uk/terms.
