Childish Gambino making Deadpool TV series for grown-ups
Deadpool will bring his X-rated, hyper violent adventures to TV screens in a brand new animated series.
Musician, actor and writer Donald Glover, who performs as Childish Gambino, will co-write and co-produce the show about the Marvel Comics character.
He and his brother, Stephen Glover, will work with Marvel Television and FX productions on 10 episodes of the show.
But don't expect to sit down and watch this cartoon with your kids.
As per Deadpool's history on screen and in comic books, the TV series will be aimed at an audience.
"How much more fun could this be? Deadpool, Donald and FX - the perfect fit for the Merc with the Mouth," Marvel's Jeph Loeb says in a statement about the new show.
"We're thrilled that our relationship with FX that started with 'Legion' continues with what is sure to be a groundbreaking show in adult animation."
Deadpool became one of the most popular Marvel characters to make the jump to the mainstream with his 2016 movie.
It is the highest grossing X-Men movie of all time - he's a mutant like Wolverine, Storm and the rest - making more than $783m (拢606m) worldwide.
The Deadpool animated TV show is due to premiere in 2018, the same year as the movie sequel will hit cinemas.
Deadpool 2 is set to start filming later this year.
It will feature fan-favourite characters Cable and Domino, joining Deadpool (played by Ryan Reynolds) on his second cinema adventure.
Donald Glover has previous experience working on TV, having created and starred in award-winning US show Atlanta.
He also has existing ties to the Marvel universe, having voiced Miles Morales in two episodes of animated show Ultimate Spider Man and having an as-yet-unknown role in upcoming big-screen reboot, Spider-Man: 91热爆coming.
