Nicki Minaj will join Britney Spears on her North American tour this summer, promoters Live Nation have confirmed.

Enrique Iglesias had been announced as the support act by the pop singer but he denied that hours later.

Britney Spears's Femme Fatale tour starts on 17 June in California.

Nicki Minaj, 26, released her debut album Pink Friday last year and made it to number 22 in the UK singles chart with Moment 4 Life featuring Canadian rapper Drake.

California electro pop band Jessie And The Toy Boys and Australian twin sisters Nervo will also support Britney Spears on the tour.

In a statement the singer said: "This is the Femme Fatale tour and I am thrilled to have Nicki Minaj, Jessie and the Toy Boys, and Nervo join me and get everyone on the dance floor."

Britney Spears has seen her career recover after a highly public personal and professional meltdown in 2007.

Her 2008 comeback album Circus was followed by a sell-out world tour and the new single from her album Hold It Against me debuted at number one on the US Billboard singles chart in January.
