Amanda Holden to star in West End musical Shrek
Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda Holden has landed a role in Shrek The Musical, in London's West End.
She will play Princess Fiona, the role voiced by Cameron Diaz in the Oscar-winning films on which the musical is based.
The show was a hit in the US and will open at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, in May 2011. Tickets go on sale on 1 October.
Comedian Richard Blackwood will play Donkey with the rest of the cast announced soon.
Award-winning
As far as we're aware Simon Cowell isn't up for the role of the big green swamp-dwelling ogre Shrek.
The musical follows Shrek on his adventures as he sets off to reclaim the deed to his land, battling a dragon along the way.
The US musical won an award for its costumes.
The UK version will have a number of new songs.
Holden has appeared in a number of West End musicals in the past, before she started judging people's talents on TV.
The tables will be turned on her when the critics turn up for opening night of Shrek The Musical.
