A man has been arrested after crews dealt with a fire at a YMCA building.

Emergency services were called to the third-floor blaze on Charter Place, Watford, just after 22:00 BST on Thursday.

Police said the building was evacuated and there were no reported injuries.

A man, 33, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life and remains in custody.

Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service sent nine engines, an aerial ladder and a command support unit to the scene.

Crews extinguished a "small fire" in a flat on the third floor by about 23:15.

The East of England Ambulance Service said one person was assessed at the scene for smoke inhalation but was not taken to hospital.

People with information about the fire have been asked to contact police.
