A man has suffered very serious injuries in a crash in Birmingham, the ambulance service said.
The emergency services were called just after 06:00 BST on Friday after a car crashed into a tree at the junction of the A38 Tyburn Road and Abbotts Road in Erdington.
The driver was cut free from his car by firefighters and given treatment by paramedics and taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, West Midlands Ambulance Service said.
His injuries could be life-changing, police said.
Drivers were urged to avoid the area by the force and a diversion had been in place for several hours since the crash.
Motorists were told to use Abbotts Road if heading out of the city and Wheelwright Road coming into the city.
National Express West Midlands said bus services were being diverted in the area.
Police said investigators were at the scene of the crash trying to work out what happened and any witnesses were urged to contact them.
