Man charged after boy, 16, stabbed

A 16-year-old boy has been stabbed in a suspected attempted robbery in Liverpool.

Officers were called to Bird Street, close to Smithdown Road, at about 07:00 BST on Monday.

The boy was taken to hospital with a stab wound to his arm.

A 19-year-old man, of no fixed abode, has been charged with attempted robbery, wounding and possession of an offensive weapon, Merseyside Police said.

Witness appeal

Det Insp Michael Fletcher said it would have been an "extremely traumatic experience" for the teenager and appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

Det Insp Fletcher said: "We understand the concern that such incidents cause in our communities, and we will do everything in our power to find those responsible and put them before the courts.

"If you live locally or were passing by on foot or in a vehicle, please check any devices, particularly at around 6:50am.

"Anyone who saw the incident or anyone making off on foot or on a pedal bike may have vital information to assist."
