M4 reopens both ways after police incident
Both directions of the M4 motorway in south Wales have reopened following a police incident that caused long delays.
It was closed westbound between junctions 37 and 38, Porthcawl to Margam, after the incident, which caused tailbacks of around 4.3km (2.7 mile) westbound and about 6km (3.7 mile) eastbound.
South Wales Police said on Thursday evening that the incident 鈥渉as now been resolved鈥 and the road reopened.
Police urged motorists to 鈥減roceed with caution while the congestion eases鈥.
The force had earlier asked people to remain in their vehicles and keep the hard shoulder clear for emergency service vehicles.
A diversion had been put in place via Pyle, near junction 37, but routes there were heavily congested as drivers tried to find an alternative route, traffic monitoring system INRIX said.
