Two more people are due to appear in court in Cumbria after being charged in connection with racially offensive material posted online.

A 51-year-old man from Egremont has been charged with sending a communication of an indecent or offensive nature.

A 26-year-old woman from Salterbeck has been charged with publishing material to stir up racial hatred.

Police across the country have so far arrested almost 800 people in connection with rioting and unrest, with about 350 of those charged, in the wake of three young girls being stabbed to death in Southport, Merseyside, last month.

The 51-year-old man, of Church Street, has been remanded in custody ahead of a hearing at North Cumbria Magistrates' Court, in Carlisle, on Monday.

The 26-year-old woman, of Mona Road, has also been remanded in custody to appear at Workington Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
