The A38 in Devon has been reopened after a milk tanker fire closed a section of the eastbound carriageway near Ivybridge.

National Highways said the road was closed between the B3213 at Ivybridge and the A3121 at Wrangaton on Wednesday morning.

An update from National Highways said: "The A38 in Devon is now open eastbound between the B3213 (Ivybridge) and the A3121 (Wrangaton) following a lorry fire and spillage."

The post advised for drivers to allow for extra time with 15 minutes of delays expected with about 1.5 miles (2.4km) of congestion.

At the time of the closure, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said they were "dealing with a large tanker fire near Forder Lane" of a tanker "carrying 8,000 litres (1,760 gallons) of milk" which was "well alight."

The force said the fire was fully extinguished by 22:15 BST on Tuesday.
