A farmer was found dead in a slurry tank after being reported missing, an inquest opening has heard.
Islwyn Owen, 67, from Gwynedd, was reported missing on the evening of 4 September and was found at his farm near Bala about 90 minutes later.
The inquest in Caernarfon was adjourned on Wednesday for further investigations to take place.
Coroner Kate Robertson said: "I have reasonable cause to suspect that his death was unnatural."
Ms Robertson said Mr Owen had been working at Cefn Bodig at Llanycil in Meirionydd when he was reported missing at 20:49 and was found at about 22:30.
She added: "Sadly, Mr Owen was found in a slurry tank, and confirmed dead by paramedics."
In a funeral notice, his family described him as a "dear husband of Margaret, fond brother, brother-in-law, uncle and son-in-law".
"He will be dearly missed by his family and friends," it added.
No date was given for the full inquest to take place.
