Pedestrian dies after being struck by car
A man in his 80s has died after being struck by a car in North Yorkshire.
Police said the pedestrian was hit by a Range Rover on the A172 near Swainby at about 17:30 GMT on Tuesday.
Paramedics from Yorkshire Ambulance Service were called to the scene, but the man was pronounced dead a short time later.
The road was closed while an initial investigation was carried out, North Yorkshire Police said, but reopened at about 23:00.
Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dash cam footage to get in touch.
