Men charged with attempted murder after police officer hit by car
Two men have been arrested and charged with attempted murder after a police officer was hit by a car and seriously injured while on duty.
Officers had approached an Audi S3 on Low Waters Road in Hamilton, Lanarkshire, at about 13:00 last Friday.
When they tried to speak to the occupants, the vehicle made off and a 33-year-old officer was hit.
Douglas Mills, 56, from Glasgow and a 30 year old, also called Douglas Mills, from Hamilton made no plea earlier at Hamilton Sheriff Court.
Both men are charged with assault to severe injury, permanent disfigurement, permanent impairment and danger to life, as well as attempted murder.
The injured officer was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow with injuries described as serious but not life-threatening.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "The injured officer remains in hospital for treatment."
