A number of properties in and around a market town were left without water early on Easter Sunday due to a burst main.

Anglian Water said the pipe that burst near the Haven Gate Bridge in Boston was one of their biggest at 21in (53cm).

Engineers were able to isolate the burst and the water company said the supply should be coming back on for those who had experienced "an interruption".

The firm is now planning the repair of the pipe and said that was expected to take a couple of days.

Photos shared on social media showed a lot of water on a number of roads, particularly John Adams Way.

Regan Harris from Anglian Water said: 鈥淭here was quite a bit of water around and quite a wide area affected.

"Our teams are really agile at being able to move water around when we have burst water mains.

鈥淭he good news is our teams have been out on site and we've managed to isolate that burst.

"So anybody that's experienced an interruption to their supply this morning should now be coming back on鈥.

Anglian Water said readings suggested that everything was getting back to normal.
