Bus destroyed in city centre fire

A bus has been severely damaged in a fire in Derby city centre.

The blaze took place at about 11:30 BST in Morledge, while the vehicle was underneath the Derbion Riverside Car Park.

A large police cordon is in place stretching from The Cock Pit to the junction with Albert Street.

Derbyshire Fire and Rescue said no passengers were on board at the time of the fire and the driver had left the bus by the time they arrived.

The service said firefighters from Long Eaton and Castle Donington remain on scene after the fire.

Diversions have also been put in place for traffic.
