Man admits role in night of violent disorder

A man has admitted his part in a night of disorder during which a police car was overturned in a suburb of Leeds.

Trouble broke out in Harehillls on 18 July after four children were removed from their home and taken into emergency care, over concerns they would be taken out of the UK.

Daniel Constantin, 29, of Nowell Mount in Leeds, admitted violent disorder at Leeds Magistrates' Court on Thursday.

He was remanded into custody and will be sentenced at Leeds Crown Court on 17 October.

Hundreds of people took to the streets, with trouble continuing for several hours.

The children were later returned to extended family members.

West Yorkshire Police said a total of 41 people had been arrested as part of the investigation.

A spokesman said the force was using facial recognition and other technology to identify those involved.

Four men will appear at Leeds Crown Court on 1 October to be sentenced for offences including violent disorder and arson.
