A man has been charged after a stabbing inside a McDonald's restaurant in Leicester.

Police were called to Market Street just after 05:00 BST on Tuesday after a man in his 20s was stabbed.

He sustained a head injury and was taken to hospital, before being discharged later.

A 37-year-old man, of no fixed address, has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and is due to appear before magistrates later.

A 33-year-old man arrested following the stabbing had been released with no further action, police added.
