E-scooter rider, 13, seriously injured in crash

A 13-year-old boy riding an e-scooter has suffered serious injuries following a crash with a car.

The crash, on Wellington Road in Bitterne Park, Southampton, happened shortly after 08:00 BST. Police said the boy's family had been informed.

Wellington Road and Oaktree Road remain closed with people urged to avoid the area.

Witnesses and anyone with doorbell or dashcam footage are being urged to contact police.

The e-scooter involved was not part of the Southampton City Council rental scheme run by Voi in the city, police said.
