Three seriously injured as crash closes A1(M)

Three people have been seriously injured in a multi-vehicle crash on the A1(M) in West Yorkshire.
Police were called to reports of a crash on the A1(M) southbound near junction 41 just after 12:30 BST.
The motorway was closed in both directions between junction 41 for the M62 and junction 40 at Ferrybridge, but the northbound carriageway reopened at about 14:45.
National Highways said the southbound carriageway was "expected to be closed throughout the afternoon".
West Yorkshire Police said as well as the three people seriously injured, several more had suffered minor injuries.
A Yorkshire Ambulance Service spokesperson said six ambulances, an air ambulance, a doctor and a critical care paramedic were deployed to the scene.
They said three people were taken to Leeds General Infirmary, while another three were taken to Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield.
National Highways said that due to the emergency services and air ambulance being at the scene, drivers were warned to expect delays and congestion.
