Woman in her 70s injured as bag snatched
A woman aged in her 70s suffered a suspected fractured hip when her bag was snatched in a street robbery, said police.
Members of the public helped detain the suspect after the bag was taken in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter on Monday, West Midlands Police said.
The woman was targeted at the junction of Warstone Lane and Vyse Lane at about 11:20 BST. She remains in hospital for treatment.
A 29-year-old man who was arrested has since been charged with robbery and assault, police said. He was remanded to appear before Birmingham Magistrates' Court.
"We continue to have visible patrols in and around the Jewellery Quarter and across the wider city centre," said a force spokesperson.
