A further 拢1.1m has been approved towards the reopening of Aberdeen's Bucksburn Swimming Pool, after the cost more than doubled.

The pool closed its doors as part of the city council's budget cuts last year, however the local authority later overturned its decision.

This year's budget included 拢1m for recommissioning work, including to reduce the pool's energy costs.

However the building's internal fabric has deteriorated significantly, and an additional 拢1.1m has now been agreed by the finance and resource committee.

Committee convener Alex McLellan said: 鈥淎berdeen City Council is committed to carrying out works to upgrade the facility before re-opening the Bucksburn Swimming Pool, so additional resource has been allocated to the project.

鈥淭he works will ensure it is a real asset for the community for years to come."
