Drivers warned of delays as city road resurfaced

Drivers are being warned of delays through the centre of a city as a 拢1.1m road resurfacing scheme starts on Monday.
The work will be carried out in Lichfield, Staffordshire, for about seven weeks on the A5127 Birmingham Road between its junctions with St John Street and Green Hill.
As well as resurfacing the whole road, ironwork and kerbs would be replaced while drains would be repaired and road markings refreshed, the county council said.
A traffic management scheme would be in place during the day and there would be several overnight closures, the authority warned.
A diversion route would be signposted for drivers, they added.
James Bailey, from the council, said it was time to resurface the Birmingham Road in the area as "the volume of traffic has taken its toll on [its] surface".
"The result will be smoother journeys for people travelling through the area and I hope people will be pleased with the finish," he added.
