Couple who bought pier have 'exciting new plans'
A husband and wife team who now own Southwold Pier have promised "exciting new plans" after it was officially reopened by the town mayor.
Charles and Amy Barwick purchased the 810ft-long (247m) Suffolk landmark for an undisclosed sum, from the previous owner Curious Pier Limited which is part of the Gough Hotels group.
Mrs Barwick, 43, revealed a new ice cream parlour would be opening on the pier in May but teased they are keeping other plans "close to our chest for now".
Mayor Simon Flunder officially reopened the pier on Good Friday and after the event Mrs Barwick said: "We've had a great turn out, that was really supportive and really encouraging from the town.
