Biker killed in BMW collision was 'beloved son'

A motorcyclist in his 20s who died in a collision has been described by his family as "a beloved son, brother, nephew and friend".

Alex Paynter, 25, was riding a red X-Cape 650 in Ramsey Forty Foot in Cambridgeshire when he collided with a grey BMW X1 at about 17:30 GMT on Monday, 8 January.

Mr Paynter, of Blacksmith's Close in the village, was pronounced dead the scene.

A 57-year-old man from the Chatteris area was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and bailed by police until 27 March.

Officers said Mr Paynter was travelling westbound on Forty Foot Bank, near its junction with Benwick Road, when he collided with the BMW coming in the opposite direction.

Police are appealing for any witnesses and dashcam footage.
