Plans for a 12-home holiday park in a Herefordshire village have been put forward.

An application seeks outline permission for a "high-quality, small but exclusive holiday lodge park" down a lane in Madley, six miles west of Hereford.

H Chalfon Ltd of West Sussex proposes these would be pre-built, two-bedroom Foresters Lodges, but said it was open to discussion on the design.

One of the 12 would serve as reception and also a manager’s office and accommodation, though this would not be permanently occupied.

Original proposal amended

The firm said pre-application advice from council officials was that an original proposal for 22 lodges was too dense and required to be scaled back.

The 1.4-hectare (3.5-acre) site was previously farmland, but has been disused for some time and has reverted to scrub and woodland.

The access road from Brampton Road in the village would require improvements and be widened, the application added.

Comments on the planning application can be made until 30 December.
