Driver arrested after five others taken to hospital

A driver has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drink or drugs following a crash that saw her and five others taken to hospital .

The incident happened on Tuesday sometime before 11:42 BST on the B4221 near Upton Bishop, Herefordshire.

Two vehicles were involved in the collision with one ending up on its side.

A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: "One woman, 25, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drink or drugs."

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson added that three people had to be cut free from the car.

"All three were treated by ambulance staff for potentially serious injuries before being conveyed via land ambulance to Hereford County Hospital.

Two further patients from the same car, a man and a woman, were already out of the vehicle and taken to the same hospital with more minor injuries.

The spokesperson said a woman from the second car was already out of the vehicle on arrival.

"She was treated for injuries not believed to be serious and taken to Worcester Royal Hospital via land ambulance for further treatment," they said.
