A sixth form college was put into lockdown after a nearby knife incident.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said officers were called to disorder in a park off Widney Manor Road in Solihull, near Solihull Sixth Form College, on Monday.
A17-year-old boy was arrested nearby on suspicion of possession of a knife.
While the incident did not take place on campus, the college said it "took the precautionary step of asking students and staff to remain on campus".
It added that no students had been harmed and the situation was quickly resolved.
Students have since been able to leave the site.
