Supermarket evacuated after suspected gas leak
A Devon supermarket was evacuated after a suspected gas leak was reported at the store.
Wales and West Utilities said it was called out to Sainsbury's on Alphington Road, Exeter, on Saturday morning over reports of a smell of gas from the building.
Justin Bond, Wales and West Utilities' gas emergency service manager, said the store was closed and evacuated as a precaution while engineers carried out safety checks.
No evidence of gas or a leak was found, Mr Bond added, and a Sainsbury's spokesperson confirmed the supermarket had reopened.
