Teacher accused of sexually abusing teenage pupil
A teacher from a school in Belfast has appeared in court accused of grooming and sexually abusing one of her students.
The 32-year-old woman allegedly targeted a teenage boy over a four-month period and met him at least once in public.
The woman is currently suspended by the school where she taught and cannot be named for legal reasons.
Speaking at Laganside court the defendant's solicitor said the woman claims to be the victim of any encounters with the boy.
She is charged with seven offences, including sexual assault, sexual activity with a child and meeting a child following sexual grooming.
Computers and phones seized
It is also alleged the teacher engaged in sexual touching with the boy while in a position of trust over him.
Further allegations include sexual communication with the boy, possessing an indecent image of him and indecent behaviour in a public place.
The alleged offences are said to have occurred between February and May 2024.
The defence solicitor said the defendant is also a complainant in relation to these proceedings.
The solicitor told the court all her computers and phones have been seized as part of the police investigation.
The case will continue on 29 July.
