Heart transplant patients reunite at Papworth Hospital
Four people who had heart transplant operations at a Cambridgeshire hospital in the same week have been reunited, 20 years on.
Betty Harthill, Robert Webb, Carole Green and Larry Hughes revisited Papworth Hospital near Cambridge.
All had successful outcomes from their surgery, which was carried out on four consecutive days in 1990.
Professor John Wallwork, who carried out the operations, said it was "pretty unique" to have four in one week.
Robert Webb lives in Cambridge but Mr Hughes and Ms Green and Ms Harthill travelled from Scotland and the Midlands.
They had kept in touch over the years but had not seen each other face-to-face since 1990.
Ms Green said she was grateful for every day since the life-saving procedure, while Mr Hughes said he would never have seen his grandchildren had he not been given a new heart.
