of only 12 squirrel refuges in Britain. The National Trust work day and

road: From Liverpool, follow signs to Southport until you join the A565. Follow
the brown signs from the roundabout at the North end of Formby by-pass.
By
train: From Liverpool, take the Merseyrail Northern Line to Freshfield. The red
squirrel reserve is one mile down Victoria Road which is adjacent to the station. Ìý Ainsdale
reserve: Located between Ainsdale and Freshfield (near Formby).
The
nearest train stations are Ainsdale, Freshfield, Southport (5 km to the north)

car park (£2.70 per car) is closed at 5.30pm (Mar-Oct) and 4.00pm (Nov-Dec).
